What is a Necklift?
A necklift is a surgical procedure that addresses the loss of skin elasticity and muscle tone of the neck. These age- and lifestyle-related changes cause those unwelcome wrinkles, grooves, and deep creases that appear in the neck area. The neck loses its young, contoured shape, and a "wattle" may appear. Dr. Kaplan's necklift surgery is often performed in combination with a facelift to address changes in the chin, jawline, and lower face to restore an overall more-rested, more-youthful contour. Frequently a submental repair and/or submental liposuction is performed at the same time. Adding a chin implant is occasionally necessary to strengthen the jawline interface with the neck at the chin.

Dr. Kaplan's Neck Lift Surgery Procedure:
- You will be prepped, made totally comfortable, and anesthesia will be administered.
- Dr. Kaplan will make tiny incisions, concealed inconspicuously behind the ears and within the hairline.
- The muscles and deep tissues are then tightened and the fat is sculpted to restore a more rested, youthful contour to the neck.
- Excess skin is removed to treat the creases and folds that distort the natural lines of the neck.
- Your surgery will take approximately one hour and will be performed in our state-of-the-art surgery center which is on site at our office location.
Anesthesia
Dr. Kaplan generally performs Neck Lift Surgery using MAC (monitored anesthesia care). All surgery is performed as an outpatient in our state-of-the-art, AAAHC-certified operating room suite, complete with all of the required monitoring, anesthesia, and emergency equipment. To ensure your complete safety and comfort during surgery, MAC will be administered by a board certified anesthesiologist who is present throughout the entire operation as (s)he administers and monitors the anesthesia. Anesthesia will be discussed during your pre-operative appointment.
After Your NeckLift Surgery:
- Swelling and bruising are normal and subside gradually over several days.
- Any discomfort is easily managed with oral medication.
- Internal sutures will dissolve.
- Your results will be visible within a few weeks as swelling subsides completely.
Many patients choose to have additional procedures at the same time to ensure the most satisfying, optimum result.
